One of the top beauty trends this summer is dewy-looking skin.
This tutorial will teach you how to get that look with a few simple steps.
Let’s learn how to make our skin look youthful :)
You’ll need:
- An exfoliator
- A water-based moisturizer
- Fix+ spray (read my review on MAC Fix+ here)
- Liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer
- Illuminating powder/liquid (ie. MAC Strobe Lotion)
- Beauty blender (read my review here) or a foundation brush
- Translucent powder
STEP ONE
Start by gently exfoliating your skin. This will help get rid of any dead or dry skin and provide a more even layer of skin for your make-up to sit on. It will also help bring out your natural, beautiful glow!
STEP TWO
After exfoliating, apply a water-based moisturizer while your skin is still damp-to-wet. I suggest a water-based moisturizer because your skin needs to be hydrated and this will infuse the “water” into your skin to prevent dehydration. Applying the moisturizer to your wet face will help it absorb more.
side note: drink the recommended daily glasses of water to keep your skin hydrated all your round!
If you don’t want to use a foundation, you can always use a liquid bronzer or tinted moisturizer mixed in with your water-based moisturizer to add a subtle glow to your face.
After moisturizing, I mix MAC Strobe Lotion and my tinted moisturizer and apply it to my face with my fingers. I love this combination because the moisturizer gives my face a tint while the MAC Strobe Lotion adds a luminous glow that doesn’t make your face look like a disco ball. It’s a beautiful, sheer coverage that feels lightweight on the face. If you do this, skip to STEP FOUR.
STEP THREE
Skip this step if you’ve used moisturizer mixed with liquid bronzer or tinted moisturizer.
Apply your foundation or tinted moisturizer with a beauty blender or foundation brush.
If you are using a beauty blender, make sure it’s damp-to-wet.
If you are using a foundation brush, use long, downward strokes in places that do not need a ton of coverage and short, stippling motions in places that need a little more coverage (ie. acne)
STEP FOUR
After apply foundation or tinted moisturizer, your skin make look and feel wet or oily. Applying a translucent powder will help set your foundation.
STEP FIVE
Apply bronzer along your forehead, tops of your cheeks, and down the centre of your face to create a subtle glow. The highlight your cheek bones with an illuminating powder.
If you’ve already used a liquid bronzer with your moisturizer, only apply the illuminating powder to your cheek bones.
STEP SIX
Last but not least, mist your setting spray ot MAC Fix+ all over your face. Be generous, your face will absorb it on it’s own.
