“Detubing” a lipstick is a great idea! Not only will you create space in your make-up kit but you can also create your very own lipstick palette.
For the purpose of this experiment, I used an empty MAC tester container and a lipstick I am not too fond of.
The process of “detubing” a lipstick is quick & easy but be careful not to burn yourself!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • a spoon;
  • a lighter;
  • a knife;
  • lipstick;
  • an empty container/pan or palette

STEP ONE
Roll the lipstick all the way up and cut it with a knife. Place the lipstick on the spoon.

STEP TWO
Light the lighter under the spoon until the lipstick melts. Please be careful during this step! The spoon gets really hot.

STEP THREE
Carefully, drip the lipstick into your container of choice. If you do this too quickly, you will spill the lipstick everywhere and waste a lot of it  (unfortunately, I’m speaking from experience)

STEP FOUR
If there is any remaining lipstick in the tube, dig it out with the knife and place it on the spoon and then, repeat step two & step three.

STEP FIVE
Wait for the lipstick to dry & voila! You have yourself a “detubed” lipstick!
