This season is all about beautifully bold, bright lips paired with a neutral, subtle eye. This is definitely my go-to daytime look.

Here’s what you’ll need (all products should match your skintone):

  • Primer
  • Concealer
  • Foundation (powder, liquid, whatever you use)
  • Eyeliner (liquid or gel)
  • A nude eyeshadow or pigment (ie. MAC Naked pigment)
  • Mascara
  • Blush
  • Contour blush
  • MAC Pro Lip Erase (or a blank-out lipstick or concealer to neutralize your lips)
  • Lip liner
  • Your favourite BRIGHT lipstick
  • Setting spray

STEP ONE

Start off by priming your skin for a smooth, silky slate. Next, apply concealer where you need it and then, apply your foundation (I am loving Caryl Baker Visage Mineral Matte foundation. Review coming soon!)

STEP TWO

We’ll start with your eyeshadow. Feel free to use an eye primer, if you like! Apply your nude eyeshadow all over the lid and brown bone. I love using the MAC Naked pigment because it’s got a hint of color and some shimmer but is virtually, almost transparent. You can apply this pigment to your bottom lash line to brighten up your eyes a bit.

STEP THREE

no mascara

Next, let’s apply eyeliner. For this look, I prefer to use a black liquid liner (or gel). You can apply it with as much intensity as you like! You can wing it out for a subtle cat eye or you can thicken it up. I prefer just a thin line on my upper lashes with a smaller wing- just enough to give my eyes a little definition.
Curl your lashes. Apply a few, generous coats of mascara to your top lashes and sparingly, on your bottom lashes.
Viola!! Your eyes are done.

STEP FOUR

Apply your contour (2-3 shades darker than your skin tone) along your jaw line, hair line, under your cheek bones, and that little dip on your upper lip (to add emphasis to your cupids bow). I use MAC Blush in Harmony to contour.

Apply your blush to the tops of your cheek bones then blend down towards the apples of your cheeks. I don’t like to look any younger than I do, so I apply my blush to the tops of my cheeks and very subtly to the apples. I am using NARS Blush in Orgasm.

STEP FIVE
On to the main part of this look: Lips!

Honeylove

If you lips are really pigmented, you may want to blank out your lips with MAC Pro Lip Erase. This product is only available for those with a PRO card so if you don’t have one, you can neutralize your lips with concealer or you can try MAC Lipstick in Honey Love (it’s a matte nude color).

Line your lips with a color that matches your lipstick (or if you don’t have one, use a clear lip liner like Lise Watier’s Virtual Lip Contour)
To make your lips appear bigger, apply lip liner to the very outer edge of your lips.
NOTE: You’re not drawing on your face!
To make your lips appear thinner, apply lip liner on the inner edge of your lips.

Revlon in Fuschia

Next, apply the brightest, boldest color you’ve got. Try a color like MAC Lipstick in Snow Orchid, Neon Orange or Russian Red.

STEP SIX
Spritz your favourite setting spray on a large, round brush and pat all over your face or spray it directly onto your face. This ensures your look will last all day long!
Unsure of the kind of setting spray to use? Give Model in a Bottle or Lise Watier Magnifix.
