I happen to be a huge fan of pigments. They are very fine, loose powders (usually made of natural minerals) that have amazing color pay-off. A little of these bad gals go a heck of a long way.

Let me count the ways we can use pigments!

  • Wet: use a mixing medium (or water would suffice) to create a shiny, richer color that is less messy to apply
  • Dry: with a flat, stiff brush, pat the pigment over your lids. This will pack on the color, making it more vibrant.
  • Nail Polish: Have a nail color in mind that you can’t find in-stores? Try using a pigment! Mix a little pigment with a little clear nail polish and you’ll have yourself a brand new polish.
  • Lipstick: Pat your favourite pigment on your lips followed by a clear gloss, mixing medium, or vaseline.
  • Blush: Apply your pigment as a blush with a duo-fiber brush. A denser brush would pack on too much color. Similarly, you can use it as a highlighter or bronzer, too!
  • Body Shimmer: Take a sheer, shimmer pigment and apply it to the desired spots on your body. Or you could mix some in a lotion.
  • Hair: I’ve never tried this method but you can add pigments to your hairspray, wax, or gel.
  • Paint: You got it! You don’t need to use your pigments as a beauty product. Mix pigments with a water-based solution, oils, dry powder, etc. to create your desired color.

How do you like to use your pigments? Which company makes your favourite pigments?

So cliche but I love MAC pigments! They are so finely milled, it makes for easier application.
