Cost: $64 USD
Where can I buy this? Urban Decay, Sephora

MY 2 CENTS
I bought the Urban Decay Book of Shadows vol. 4 off of the Urban Decay Haute Look sale a couple of weeks ago. This Limited Edition BoS  came with 16 shimmery eyeshadows (10 of which are new to Urban Decay), a mini Primer Potion, a mini Super Curling mascara, a full-size 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black, and a mini speaker for your phone/iPod. I got all of that for $29 USD!

The 16 eyeshadows include:

  1. Blue Bus, blue with purple shimmer
  2. Gun Metal, grey with silver glitter
  3. Cobra, charcoal-ish with gold shimmer
  4. Baked, bright copper
  5. Bender, mosy/olive green
  6. Gravity, vibrant purple
  7. Lost, shimmering dark brown
  8. Hi Jack, grey/green with blue/green shimmer
  9. Midnight Cowgirl, shimmering beige with gold glitter
  10. Sin, champagne
  11. Midnight Rodeo, metallic brown with silver/gold glitter
  12. Crystal, silvery-blue
  13. Bust, taupe with gray shimmer
  14. Missionary, light taupe with pink shimmer
  15. Skimp, shimmering light nude
  16. Zephyr, shimmering creamy, off-white

THE PRODUCTS

These eyeshadows are super creamy, super pigmented, and have amazing color pay-off although the glitter fallout is a bit annoying. Eyeshadows can be used wet or dry. Scroll down for swatches!

I have never tried the Urban Decay Primer Potion but I have tried it’s cheaper sister, Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer (click for review). The two products are very similar in texture and color (both creamy, both nude, both dry invisible). The Primer Potion is $20 USD while the Herbal Eyeshadow Primer is $7.99 CDN. If my frugal side was speaking (which it is), I’d continue using the Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer.

I love the 24/7 Liquid Liner and you can find my full review of the product HERE

The Super Curl mascara has an interesting shaped brush. It’s curved and my eyelashes fit perfectly in the bend. This is the first Urban Decay mascara I’ve tried and I find the formula a little clumping on this particular one. It seems to me that the curl and definition of my lashes sort of disappears throughout the day. The full-size product is $20 USD but I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on it.

THE PACKAGING

The case that these products enclose is extremely pretty but over the top and bulky. I find it unrealistic to store but I love the pull out drawer and the handy mirror. When you’re traveling, this BoS is probably the only palette you’ll need to take with you. 16 eyeshadows, an eyeliner, a primer, a mascara, and a mirror.

THE VERDICT

A full-size eyeshadow is 0.05 US oz at $17 USD/each. The eyeshadow in the  BoS IV are 0.03 US oz. Not quite full-size, but not that far off!
The full-size 24/7 Liquid liner is worth $19 USD.
The Primer Potion is travel-sized at 0.13 US fl. oz and worth $9 USD.
The travel-sized (0.18 US fl. oz.) Super Curl mascara is worth $10 USD.
Plus the mini speaker.
The total price for the BoS IV is well over $300 USD but you can buy it now for $64. This Book of Shadows is a steal and worth every penny.
