MY 2 CENTS
Back in September, Haute Look was having a sale on Tweezerman products, which is where I purchased this Beauty Essentials Kit (according to my Haute Look receipt, I saved $21).
To write this review, I went on their website to find out how much the product actually costs. As it turns out, they don’t offer this specific Beauty Essentials Kit anymore but they do have different variations of it. I think the Kit that I purchased may have been exclusive to Haute Look only because I haven’t been able to find it elsewhere.
My Beauty Essentials kit came equipped with 5 Tweezerman products bundled into a black leather case. The tweezer and the brow scissor both came with protective caps that should be replaced after every use.
In my Beauty Essentials Kit, I received:
- 1 mini printed slant tweezers (full version: $25)
- 1 mini brow scissors and 1 mini spoolie (full version: $18)
- 1 mini eyenhance brow highlighter ($n/a)
- 1 mini brow powder brush ($n/a)
The tweezers are sharp. The stainless steel tips of the tweezer are hand filed, super thin, and perfectly aligned. There’s no wonder these tweezers have been “Best of Beauty” winner for 10 years. The tweezers are precise, grabbing each hair individually. Careful not to pinch your soft skin with these babies! It will cut and possibly bleed.
Remember: Similar to shaving, you should always tease in the direction of hair growth to prevent breakage.
The brow scissor I received is different than the one pictured on the website. I use the brow scissors in conjuction with the brow comb/spoolie to trim and maintain my brows. I use the spoolie to comb my brow hairs up (and then down), then the brow scissors to trim the hair. The brow scissors feel a bit flimsy but they’re sharp and cut the brow hairs with ease.
The eyenhance brow highlighter pencil is too light (and too shimmer-y) for my skin but would look great on someone with fairer skin.
The brow powder brush is okay, I’d use it more if it was just a little thinner. It’s stiff and works well with powder (hence brow powder brush) but because it’s (in my opinion) too thick, I can only use it on the thicker part of my eyebrows.
The Beauty Essentials Kit bonus (for me) is the little black leather case! It holds all 5 products, it’s not bulky and it buttons shut. It’s great for storing and keeping all the mini pieces of the kit together.
By the time I paid shopping and an International surcharge (at 20%), I paid almost $60 for this kit. After using it countless times, I do not regret one penny of what I paid!
