What is it?

Tropic Spa Home Mist Tanning System is an at home tanning unit that delivers tanning solutions in exact amounts (by built in electronic timer) over your entire body for a 12 second application time.
It’s a single, cordless (read: portable) unit with 6 outlets and an adjustable hanger that allows for easy height adjustments, and audible tones that provides vital user information. The unit comes with factory installed rechargeable lithium ion batteries that can last up to 20 tans, and charges within 3-4 hrs.
This system is built and certified UL (Underwriter Laboratories Inc) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) specifications.

The refill kits that are available for purchase deliver 10 full body tans and come with all the needed accessories.
Those accessories are:

• a user DVD
• exfoliating materials
• head and foot covers
• gloves
• touch up solution

Kit change overs require no tools and can be done in less than 5 minutes.

Tropic Spa Solution

One of the main ingredients in the Tropic Spa Solution is DHA (derived from sugar beets and sugar canes, primarily used in sunless tanning products as a skin coloring agent). It also contains ingredients that moisturize and condition the skin (ie. aloe)
The Tropic Spa Solution come in 100% recyclable, steel cans. Also noteworthy, nitrogen (which we breathe in on a daily basis) is the gas used to pressurize the cans.

Review

After initial testing of the Solution (not the actually system, JUST the Solution!), I found the Solution to be patchy (and to no fault of my own) but the color was gorgeous (and not orange, hoo-rah!)
As I mentioned, the patchiness was my fault. I’ll tell you why:

• I didn’t exfoliate (or have freshly shaven legs, for that matter)
• I was impatient and didn’t let the product dry naturally (ie. I rubbed it in with gloves)
• I sprayed the product way too close to my skin, resulting in a “clumpy” tan

So now that you know what not to do, here is what you must do to get a gorgeous tan:

• Exfoliate. I can’t stress this enough. The top layer of our skin dies daily, even if you moisturize, even if you think you’re not dry. You are!
• Spray the product evenly on your body, holding it at least 6in or so away from your skin. This will help evenly distribute the Solution.
• Let it dry. Don’t rub it in.  It may take about 15 minutes for it to fully set. To pass time, turn on some music and dance around your room naked. It’s liberating and it’s fun. When’s the last time you had a really good time on your own?

After considering the above, I tried again and I’m in love with my tan! My color is gorgeous, it’s not streaky, it’s not patchy, it looks natural and just all around fantastic. Also noteworthy: the Solution is quite moisturizing. My legs do not feel dry at all and they’re super smooth!
