REVIEW: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips
Cost: $8.97 CDN
Where can I buy this? Walmart
MY 2 CENTS
Call me lazy (I prefer impatient), but these strips are a dream come true for me. They’re so easy to apply, there’s no dry time, lasts up to 10 days, and I have 24 different Salon Effect choices. Click HERE to see those options.
These nail polish strips comes with instructions, 16 nail strips (which if you utilize correctly, you’ll have more left over for a second use), a cuticle stick, and a mini buffer/file in one.
I opted with “Glitz Bitz” to match THESE pumps that I wore to my works’ Christmas party (didn’t I look smoking!?).
It took a few tries to get the hang of placement and tearing off the excess pieces without chipping the nail, but I figured it out and it’s actually quite easy.
Each strip is a different size. Most of them will fit the nail properly but you may have to peel off the excess off your cuticles. The strip was also too long for my nails, so I folded over the excess, which created a tear, and I peeled it off.
It’s best to apply these strips on clean, dry, warm fingers because the nail polish will stick with less effort. My fingers were cold so I had to apply quite a bit of pressure to warm up my finger, but eventually the polish strips stuck.
I’ve experienced some lifting (and in-turn chipping by the cuticles) but that could just be my fault, I may not have applied them correctly. I kept picking at them because they’ve been on for a few days & I was getting tired of the color but I didn’t experience any chipping at the tips.
Removing these nail stickers (with basic nail polisher remover) took about 25 minutes. My fingers were sore the next day because I had to get a little rough with my nails (I scrubbed, and scrubbed, and scrubbed some more). My fingernails turned out clean but I had glitter all over my hands which took more time to remove.
Next time (on the advice of a girlfriend), I’m going to soak my nails with acetone. It should remove easier that way.
These are actually really fun and I would definitely repurchase them!
