Where can I buy this? Hair Salons, Nail Salons, Shoppers Drugmart, online
MY 2 CENTS
I’m not a nail polish girl at all! I think it’s too high maintenance for my liking. I just can’t keep up with it! My nails are always chipping unless I get them done at a salon. That being said, I purchased “Shatter” because of all the excitement surrounding it. And I thought plain, old nail polish was high maintenance? Shatter is even worse!
The first time I tried it I was completely disappointed, so I went online to see why this nail lacquer was hyped up so much when it was so thick & goopy and looked like such a$$ when applied!!
Turns out I was applying it wrong so I followed the “correct” instructions & voila:
It didn’t turn out that much better (probably because my nails are so short..yup, I’m a biter!) but it was definitely an improvement from the first time I used it and practice makes perfect.
How to apply it (DO’s):
- apply a base coat
- apply a bright colored nail polish
- allow it to dry, completely
- apply one coat of “Shatter”
- allow to it dry, completely
- apply a top coat
Here’s what not to do (DON’T’s):
- use a dark nail polish under “Shatter”
- apply more than one coat of “Shatter” (it gets very chunky because the formula is thick and dries so fast)
- forget to use a top coat (this stuff chips & fast!)
Remember: “Shatter” doesn’t need to be applied evenly like a normal nail polish. It is supposed to look cracked & sporadic on your nail. The lacquer will not shatter properly if more than one coat is applied.
Maybe I’m still doing something wrong, who knows but I’m not a very big fan of “Shatter”. I don’t think this particular product is for me and it’s not something I would use again (I might even try regifting lol- just kidding, sort of….)
Later days! :)
PS. Visit the OPI website to see what “Shatter” looks like on their different nail polishes

I like OPI Shatter because it hides my poorly manicuring skills. I have a terrible time putting on an even coat of colour. So I do about 2 coats in a colour, stop caring how even it is, and throw on some shatter after it dries. Bam! Hides my bad painting skills. The more I use it, the better I get at it.

Sounds like it does have a great use! haha
It looks cool if your fingernails are long but with my short nails, it just looks silly :(
It looks better on fake nails, too!
