You may recall how excited I was for this collection to release. Well it finally did on the 26th of May so today I headed to my local MAC counter to swatch out the products and see what I wanted to buy. Needless to say, I walked out empty-handed.
I was most excited about the My Paradise blush. It looks super pretty, so much so that you almost don’t want to use it. The blush is an dark peach color that looks good on it’s own. The gold provided way too much shimmer for my liking. The gold particles almost looked chunky. Not my cup of tea!
The eyeshadows seemed promising because of their gorgeous colors. Unfortunately, I found them to be really weak in pigment. The best color pay off came from Surf USA (an aqua color), and Sun Blonde (yellow/gold). Sun Shorts (champagne) and Swell Baby(gray) were really weak in comparison.
The eyeliner pencils were good but you’ll need to swipe it on a few times to get a good color payoff.
As for the lipglasses, I found Girl on Board (sheer gold) to be very similar to Lustreglass. As pretty as these lipglasses are, I couldn’t bring myself to buy them because I dislike how sticky they are (that goes for all MAC lipglasses!)
The bronzer sticks come in 3 colors and the texture is very thick and creamy. I think they’ll be great for contouring.
The bronzers in the collection seemed to have an orange tint to them with some shimmer. Most bronzers have that orange tint so I tend to skip them.
My favourite products ended up being the pigment stacks, Surf the Ocean and Summer Stash. These pigments are extremely pigmented and lives up to their “crushed metallic” title.
The lipsticks are among my favourites, as well! Bust Out (purple) and Hibiscus (coral) are really pretty. Naturally Eccentric is a scary nude color. I personally feel like it is unnaturally pale in color. Mocha is great and part of MAC’s permanent line so I wouldn’t rush out to get this one.
I apologize for not having any pictures of the products. Like I mentioned, I walked out empty-handed because I wasn’t really impressed but I may go back and get those pigment stacks and the Hibiscus lipstick.
