MY 2 CENTS
I bought this set off of a Haute Look sale. I paid about $48.50 CDN for it (side note: I love Haute Look & recommend it to everyone). Set #621 came with a cute bronze faux reptile clutch/case and 15 individually wrapped brushes.

The first few times I wash these brushes, they leaked black dye and shed like crazy. It took about 5 or 6 washes before the leaking and the shedding stopped. A noteworthy mention is that the brushes are fairly soft and hold their shape after washing (minus a few fly aways, as you’ll see in the pics below).
Leaking and shedding aside, these brushes are a great inexpensive alternative.

When I first started using these brushes, I looked at some of them and thought “what the hell am I going to use this for?” For example, the Angled Blender; I couldn’t figure out if this was supposed to be an eye or a face brush until I found the perfect use for it…contouring cheeks! It’s the perfect size to fit under your cheek bones to contour and it blends well. I blend with this brush in small, circular motions.
Another example is the Lash Fan. I thought “why would I use this on my lashes?” Well, it turns out you don’t! I use this brush to sweep away any fall out from eyeshadow. I apply translucent powder under the eye, and sweep it away with this brush after I’m done applying eyeshadow. The translucent powder is used to catch the fall out.

There are 2 brushes in this set that I have not found use for. The first brush is the Blending Fluff. This brush is way too big for a persons eye. It’s soft, but the bristles are too long and thick. It does not make for a good eyeshadow brush. Maybe to apply a powder/loose highlighter, but I have yet to try it.
The other brush I haven’t found a use for is the Oval Shadow brush. The bristles are short and stubby but again, it’s too thick and too big for the eyes. I have not found an alternative use for this brush.

Let’s have a closer look at these brushes!

Chisel Powder (top) Chisel Blush (bottom)

Chisel Powder (top), Chisel Blush (bottom)

These are the two chisel brushes. I use the Chisel Powder  to apply powder all over the face. It’s a really good size. I don’t use the Chisel Blush unless my client has  smaller shaped face.

Angle Blush

I love using the Angle Blush. It’s soft and perfectly shaped for the cheek bones. I usually pat on blush, rather than swipe. This brush picks up the perfect amount of color.

Foundation Brush

Foundation Brush

I love this Foundation brush, too. Very comparable to MAC #150. I actually like this Foundation brush better because the bristles don’t separate during application, like the MAC #150, leaving streaks behind.

Angle Blender

Angle Blender

Like I mentioned earlier, I use the Angle Blender to contour.

Blending Fluff (top), Oval Shadow (bottom)

Blending Fluff (top), Oval Shadow (bottom)

These are the two brushes I have absolutely no use for. If you can come up with a use, I’m open to suggestions & testing out the theory!

Concealer Brush

Concealer Brush

I like this Concealer brush! It fits perfectly under my eyes :)

Brow/Lash Groomer (top), Lash Fan (bottom)

Brow/Lash Groomer (top), Lash Fan (bottom)

I rarely use the Brow/Lash Groomer brush because I prefer spoolies for that but the Lash Fan comes in handy!

Oval Lip Brush

I like this Oval Lip brush but I hate that fact that it stains so easily. No matter how much I wash this brush, it will always look dirty.

Mini Smudger Brush

I prefer using this Mini Smudger brush in the crease. The bristles are not dense enough for smudging.

Round Crease Brush

Round Crease Brush

This Round Crease brush makes me happy! It blends nicely in the crease (great for a cut crease look) and it works for your outer-v as well!

Flat Liner Brush

Flat Liner Brush

I use this Flat Liner brush to smudge or to smoke out my lower lash line, extending past the outer corner of my eye.

Angle Liner Brush

The Angle Liner brush gets used for eyeliner! The slanted, dense bristles make for the perfect cat eye application!

These next few pictures will compare these Crown Brushes to other brushes I own of similar use:
(you should notice how long Crown Brush handles are compared to other brushes. Also take note of the price difference.)

MAC #150 (top) $42 USD, Crown Brush Chisel Powder (bottom) $15.95 USD

MAC #150 (top) $42 USD, Crown Brush Chisel Powder (bottom) $15.95 USD

The MAC #150 is a lot bigger than the Chisel Powder but they are both equally as soft and get the job done.

(ToptoBottom): MAC#168 $34 USD, MUG Angle Contour $5.99 USD, Crown Brush Angle Blush $4.76 USD

(ToptoBottom): MAC#168 $34 USD, MUG Angle Contour $5.99 USD, Crown Brush Angle Blush $4.76 USD

Both the MAC #168  and Angle Blush are soft and feel great against the skin but the MUG Angle Contour is rough and I would not repurchase it.

Crown Brush Angle Liner (top) $1.95 USD, MAC#266 (bottom) $19.50 USD

Crown Brush Angle Liner (top) $1.95 USD, MAC#266 (bottom) $19.50 USD

The MAC #266 doesn’t work well as an eyeliner brush unless the bristles are wet. I prefer the Angel Liner because of it’s stiff bristles

Crown Brush Round Crease (top) $2.89 USD, MUG Outer-V $5.99 USD

Crown Brush Round Crease (top) $2.89 USD, MUG Outer-V $5.99 USD

The MUG Outer-V is a little rougher than the Round Crease but they are both equally good and inexpensive!

Crown Brush Oval Lip (top) $0.85 USD, MAC #316 (bottom) $19.50USD

These two brushes are equally good but I do prefer the MAC #316 because the brush is smaller and retractable.

MAC #190 (top) $32 USD, Crown Brush Foundation (bottom) $5.89 USD

MAC #190 (top) $32 USD, Crown Brush Foundation (bottom) $5.89 USD

Like I mentioned earlier, I prefer the Crown Brush Foundation compared to the MAC #190

MUG Concealer Brush (top) $5.99 USD, Crown Brush Cocealer (bottom) $3.49 USD

MUG Concealer Brush (top) $5.99 USD, Crown Brush Cocealer (bottom) $3.49 USD

I love both these brushes equally! The Crown Brush Concealer is great for under the eyes while the MUG Concealer is perfect for everywhere else one your face.

mark Eyeliner Brush, Crown Brush Mini Smudger $1.99 USD

The Mini Smudger does not do a great smudging job so instead, I use the mark Eyeliner Brush to smudge my eyeliner or shadow for  smokey eye.

I’m so sorry for the longggg drawn out post but I felt in order to properly review these, pictures and comparisons were in order.
If you couldn’t tell from this post, I am a fan of Crown Brush and would definitely purchase their individual brushes!

Crown brushes are the worst ever!!! The hair falls out every time I use them and when I called to complain they told me I had to do it within a certain time frame. So basically I am stuck with crappy brushes that I can’t use. Don’t buy from this company!!

      Hi Cami!

Sorry to hear about your experience with Crown Brush. It’s safe to say that everyone’s experience will vary!
What was the time frame they gave you? You should definitely contact them again. They need to stand behind their product. You know?
