Earlier this month, I was invited out to The International Dermal Institute for a skin treatment with an amazing Skin Therapist named Amanda.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist and given a very in-depth skin analysis form to fill out. Questions ranged from my daily skincare routine, to products I’m using, to personal questions about my lifestyler: am I smoker? am I on any birth control? etc. This form is something you fill out once and is kept on file for any further treatments at the Institute.
Once I completed my form, the Amazing Amanda came out to greet me. She brought me into the dimly lit, clean, treatment room where I was instructed to change into a robe and remove any jewelery on my face and ears.
She left the room, I did my business, and then she returned and the treatment began!
Amanda walked me through the treatment: from cleansing, double cleansing, toning, moisturizing, extractions, etc. We talked about my skin type, how to treat it, any skin issues I had and how to combat it. This skin treatment was extremely informative and yet relaxing. There was a massage portion of it, too where I almost fell asleep! It was that peaceful.
I left feeling more knowledgeable about my skin. It’s “normal” but dehydrated and I have a ton of sun damage, hence why I’ve never been able to completely even out my tone and all the freckles (that I mask oh-so-well under foundation!)
At the end, Amanda provided me with a face map that outlined my problem areas and included a list of products that could help, along with how and when to use them. From Cleansers (ie. the Precleanse which I love anyway!), to Exfoliants, Moisturizers, Hydrating Serums, and SPFs for my sun-damaged skin.
I was also sent home with two products targeted to my skin concerns: Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer and the Skin Defense Booster with SPF 50.
The Daily Resurfacer is a leave on exfoliant that you use 3-4x a week. The treatment brighten and tones skin. The applicator is a finger pad and you gently rub it on the surface of your face, avoiding the eye area. It’s not to be rinsed off, apply your serums and moisturizers once it absorbs into the skin.
the Skin Defense Booster with SPF50 is a sunscreen that can be used directly on your face or mixed in with your moisturizer. The formula contains antioxidants C and E, Green Tea, and Grape Seed extracts.
Both products are formulated without artificial fragrances and colors.
I look forward to incorporating both of these products into my day & night routines.
I had a great experience at The International Dermal Institute and recommend checking them out, even if it’s just for a skin treatment!
