On October 1st, I headed over to In The Buff Spa to see my friend and colleague Naomi (owner/spa therapist of In The Buff) to have my first facial.
I was given the chance to choose one of three facials:
- Organic European Facial
- In The Buff Signature Organic Facial
- Oxygenating – Lightening Facial Treatment
Since I have fairly easy skin to deal with, I decided on the Organic European Facial ($80/60 minutes). This treatment is recommended for those who do not have significant problems with their skin (ie. me!)
The process for this facial is simple:
- Cleanse x 2
- Tone
- Exfoliate
- Masque
- Hydration + Massage
- Sun Protection (which I learned is vital after every facial)
The products Naomi uses are amazing. It’s an organic brand from Hungary called Ilike, pronounced EE-LEE-KA. Ilike products are full of vitamins, fruit acids, and bioflavanoids. Organically grown from fruits, herbs, and vegetables, Ilike contains he highest possible levels of natural active ingredients.
Before we got started with the facial, Naomi sat me down so we could discuss my skin type so that she could tailor the facial to my needs. I have normal skin and my only concerns are an uneven tone and tiny bumps along my jaw line (hint: by the end of the facial, those bumps were gone).
She then took me on a “sensory tour”. I closed my eyes, she had me smell 4 different scents and choose two out of the four. I chose Peppermint and Lemongrass.
After I got into my robe and disposable headband, I laid onto her bed, shut my eyes, and was taken away with the experience.
She started with the Peppermint scent to relax me and then we got started with the facial. It was freakin’ beautiful and SO relaxing. The hot towels was my favourite part and I even got a little, much needed massage.
Long story short, by the end of it, my skin was brighter, smoother, and bump-free. Even the next day, I felt that my skin remained bright and naturally glowing.
The Ilike products Naomi used on my skin (and also sent me home with samples of!) are:
- Lemon Milk Cleanser which, if you love lemons, is to die for. It works well to remove light makeup and is safe to used around the eyes.
- Yogurt Power Peel
- Fibrous Stonecrop Gel Mask which was left on for about 15 minutes and was so soothing.
- Rosehip Whipped Moisturizer that, although is a matte finish, helps regulate oil production. It’s infused with Vitamins A, B, C, E, K, and P
In The Buff Spa has a variety of facial treatments to choose from, and boys- she has something for you, too!
