I walked into MAC to replace my Fix + and fell in love with a bronzer, only to find out it’s only sold in the Patrick Starrr Summer Starrr Full Face Kit for $59.50 CAD. MAC bronzers run about $40 so I thought for an extra $20, I get two lip glasses and an eyeshadow quad. I loved the bronzer so much that I went with it and then borrowed my brothers girlfriends face to play with the eyeshadows LOL
The first thing I did when I got home was put on a quick face to test out the bronzer and I absolutely love it. It’s called Give Me Life. It’s a warm brown with a matte finish. It’s a bit stiff in the pan but I found it really easy to apply and I got my desired warmth from it. If all else was a bust in this set (which it’s not, I would have been happy just paying for this bronzer.
I’m also wearing one of the lipglasses in Cream Pie. It’s a muted pink with cream finish. I feel like it’s too pale for my lips on an every day basis but I would wear it on top of a lip liner to add more dimension to my lips. I also find that all MAC lipglasses are incredibly sticky and I legit hate the feeling. It eventually started to clump together on the inside of my lips and thus I wiped it off. I’ll give it another try with a lipliner on, too.
The Heat Stroke eyeshadow quad is very good, too! You can create a bunch of different looks using one, two or all four of the shadows. Although the colours in the quad play well together, I did find myself wanting to reach for other shades for a more versatile look. I tried to incorporate all four of the shadows in the look below.
So for this look, I used all four shades. Here’s how:
- Brash (warm, red copper, metallic finish) all over the lid
- Mabuhay (reddish brown, matte finish) on the outer corner/V and lower lash line
- Sandy Crotch (warm peach, matte finish) lightly in the crease to blend out harsh lines and softly blended on the lower lash line
- Ruddy (warm red, pearl finish) on the inner corners.
I also used the Give Me Life bronzer and lipglass in Fashion Peach, which is a warm peach with golden flecks.
Overall, I love the bronzer, and the Heat Stroke eyeshadow quad could definitely be something I reach for. I’ve never been a fan of MAC lipglass and the ones in this MAC x Patrick Starrr collection are no different. Regardless, I still feel that I got my moneys worth.
