I’ve previously heard of oil pulling but it’s not something I’ve ever had the desire to try. It just sounded gross – just like ‘ear candling’… ew!
I was contacted by Kismet Essentials in regards to their COCO RINSE Coconut Oil Pulling Kit. After a bit of research, I decided to give it a go. The promise of a cool mint flavour also appealed to me.
COCO RINSE is the natural way to get whiter teeth and fresh breath. Oil Pulling is said to improve digestion, reduce headaches, improve your immune system, reduce plaque while giving you a cleaner tongue and mouth, balance out hormones, improve skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, and make your skin clear and softer.
It is believed that swishing a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth, for about 10-20 minutes, will draw and pull out toxins from your body. Oil Pulling can be done daily, for years, as the benefits only increase.
The most important part, to me, about Kismet & COCO RINSE is that the coconuts are wild grown and handpicked. They are manually cold pressed and within 90 minutes, the oil is produced and collected, making COCO RINSE super fresh. Their coconut oils are fair trade, from oil to sachet. Their oil is also produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. It feels good knowing that improving my health is not at the cost of another’s.
COCO RINSE Coconut Oil Pulling Kit is organic, virgin, cold pressed, non-gmo, and fair trade.
COCO RINSE is $29.99 CDN and can be shipped world wide.
Now that we have the basics out of the way, let’s get down to the nitty gritty.
COCO RINSE comes with 14 sachets of 10ml of coconut oil.
In the sachets, the coconut oil is a bit thick but once you empty it into your mouth and start swishing around, it becomes thinner and more fluid-like.
The cool mint flavour isn’t as strong as I would like it to be. I can most definitely taste the very distinct coconut flavour. I love mint so for me, the stronger mint taste, the better.
You’re supposed to pull for 10 – 20 minutes each day, before eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth.
I try my best to do it each morning but worse case scenario, I do it at night before bed. I haven’t found that the time of day has made a difference.
TEN MINUTES is a long time to swish around your mouth. I can’t imagine pulling for up to 20 minutes. I start to feel lazy after 5 minutes – haha. I oil pull for the minimum of 10 minutes – that’s all I can convince myself to do.
After 10 minutes of COCO RINSE, my mouth does feel fresher, and clean, as if I’ve just brushed. COCO RINSE doesn’t leave an oily or greasy film on your teeth or mouth. I don’t gag and I don’t find the process gross.
I do have to share a tidbit of TMI with you, so skip this part if you’re grossed out easily.
Since starting COCO RINSE, I have experienced some awful stomach issues. I’m not kidding – like detox symptoms. My stomach cramps were SO bad and when I went #2, it was kind of… well… like water. It’s horrid. I wish I didn’t have to share this with you!
I KNOW it’s COCO RINSE and not a stomach bug because I stopped oil pulling for 2 days and I was totally fine. I pulled once after my 2 day break and started the tummy issues all over again.
I really can’t handle the pain, nor have the time to sit on a toilet all day (LOL) so I stopped COCO RINSE.
Sorry for the TMI but I really think it’s important for people to know. Oil Pulling does draw out toxins from the body, so even though this is a shitty side effect (no pun intended), it’s doing what it has to do.
