I know our Toronto summer hasn’t been the hottest or sweatiest this year but I’m still getting shiny in my T-Zone!

Here are a list of products I’m using on myself and on my brides to keep shine & oil in check:

Marcelle 8 in 1 Power Serum *

New-Age Power Serum is part of my daily skincare routine. It really helps matte out the skin before applying your moisturizer and smooths it out for your foundation. It’s main ingredient is water making it hydrating and won’t emphasize any dry patches you may have.
Perfume-free, paraben-free, hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested
$33.95 CDN

Lise Watier Age Prevention Supreme Matifying Creme-Gel *

This has been a life saver in my makeup kit. Not only does it diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it evens out skin tone, controls excess sebum and matifies the skin. I apply this to all my combination & oily skinned clients. At $69 CDN, it’s a bit of an investment but well worth it – even for every day use. The main ingredient here is also water so although it mattes the skin, you won’t have any dry patches emphasized!

Lise Watier BASE MIRACLE Pore Minimizing Primer *

You’ll need to be a little careful with this silicone-based primer. I would not use this on oily skin (because oil and silicone are not the best of friends). Base Miracle Primer works best on normal skin to control shine, and fill in fine lines and pores.
$36 CDN

Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Prep Spray

B6 is new to my beauty arsenal and I’m in love, love, love! I use this after serums and moisturizers but before primers (and sometimes, I don’t even use a primer!). It absorbs oil, minimizes pores, and reduces redness. You can use this before or after makeup, as a refresher. My clients and I are in love! Good for all skin types and ages
$33 USD

Vichy DERMABLEND Setting Powder (non-photography makeup) *

bichy dermablend setting powderThis translucent setting powder is great for every day use. The reason why I use this for “non-photography” makeup is because white powders usually leave a white cast on the face in photos, no matter how much you blend. DERMABLEND setting powder really reinforces your makeup, mattes out your foundation, and controls shine all while leaving a natural finish on the skin.
$25 USD

Ben Nye Bella Luxury Powders (photography makeup)

In my kit, I carry Buff, Banana, and Beige Suede. I use these on every client that will be having professional pictures taken of them (ie. models, brides, engagement pictures, etc). These are considered translucent but leave no white cast behind in photos because the silky powder is colored. Luxury Powders absorb oil, matifies the skin, and softens pores. At $13 CDN, you really can’t go wrong with Ben Nye Luxury Powders

Palladio Rice Papers

These blotting papers are made from natural rice (duh!) and are great for oil absorption. They’re two-sided: matte side for blotting away oil and  powdered side for slight touch ups.
