At each wedding I perform at, I send the couple a music questionnaire to fill out a few weeks leading up to their big day. It asks for specific music requirements for key points at the wedding reception such as the wedding entrance, the first dance, father/daughter and the last dance to name a few. The questionnaire also asks for their general taste in music as well as some song selections from their guests. As a result, I get an overall idea of how to best deliver the music by providing exactly what the couple and their guests want to hear and not assume that just because it’s a wedding that everyone expects to hear “La Bamba” and the “Chicken Dance”! Each couple is different and the playlist should reflect this.
